We went to the Private View of the Exhibition at Croydon Museum last night. And I have to say it is excellent! There are some lovely pictures there, ranging from the people of Croydon to landscapes, as well as work by famous artists who went to Croydon College, and they are displayed beautifully.
In keeping with the theme of unpacking art, visitors are encouraged to write a critique of their favourite piece on a luggage label, and leave it hanging on a hook nearby. My favourite was by Max Ernst, called wood and the blue moon. There is also an 'interactive' room where you can draw your own picture, look at a film and admire current photos of our town. Our Mayor, Margaret Mead, was in attendance and there was a great turnout so I think the Croydon Museum can be extremely pleased with themselves.
I have information in the shop but I would really recommend you go and see for yourselves - it is well worth it. And we are very proud to have been a part of it.
